Brief Description:  New Metal Instrument Panel - Part 01

It was a tense moment. The new, final, all-metal .063" 2024-T3 instrument panel had arrived from SteinAir. I raced out to the hangar to give it a try. The Plexiglass panels give you a good indicator of how everything is going to fit, but they are still a little "flexible" and can sometimes be a little deceiving on the final fit, particularly in tight fitting areas. The good news is that all of the various paper and Plexiglass iterations of the panel mockups paid off. The metal panel fit *perfectly* into the mounting area. Quite amazing, really. I trial fit all of the instruments into the panel, then fit the whole shebang into the airplane. Like a glove, as they say. I was pretty jazzed at this point. Things were finally coming together. Bear in mind, we're only about 19 days into the rebuild project!
